3M
Micro Video Services installed a SoundClip within 3M’s UK headquarters. Opened in 2003 the 3M Centre houses the Innovation Centre, which displays the diverse range of 3M’s products. Customers can listen to different heartbeats by placing 3M’s stethoscope on the heart area of a mannequin. A loudspeaker had been installed inside the mannequin and the SoundClip – with its integral amplifier, delivered the looped audio.

Sound Directions were asked to provide audio solutions for the showing of 6 audiovisual art pieces within its galleries as part of the Beck’s Futures Art Prize. The concepts of some of the art pieces demanded the use of directional speakers and it was felt that the clarity and intimacy of the directional flat panel together with its unobtrusive look, would be ideal. Bespoke sizes and designs of the panel have been made up by our partners Panphonics Technology so that – as far as possible, each art piece will have its own audio identity even when located in the same room as another audio piece.
